I actually just heard a guest on Benny Hinn's show: 'If you are going to doubt any part of the Bible, doubt the part about hell, but don't you dare doubt the part about the blessing." That makes me wanna puke. What a crock. If nothing is straight from the pit, that is.

PS I looked him up and it's Mike Murdock. Visit his site if you have a strong gag reflex.

Most cults are started as a rejection of the doctrine of hell.

I watched maybe 15 minutes of him and wanted to puke. He didn't even preach outta the Bible, he preached out of his latest book that he was peddling.

I know exposing Creflo Dollar is like shooting fish in a barrell, but this one was particularly awful:

Creflo Dollar: Tithes That Bind

From the accompanying video:

“If you take time to tithe the tithe correctly, it’s impossible to go to Hell. Cause if you’re doing all of that, man, tithing will keep you in Heaven. It will keep you in the presence of God.” - Creflo Dollar

I don't care what anybody says, that's straight from the father of lies.

I guess he is just cutting to the chase on his get-rich-quick schemes. What quicker way to get people to put money in your pocket than to tell them it guarantees them salvation?

Watching Mike Murdock for just a few moments should raise a big red flag in the spirit of any believer. His god is money and call all who will to join him at its altar.

His God is money, and if you're WOF, your God is self; they're both false Gods; no difference.

let me play devil's advocate for a moment...

i'm too lazy to read through this all, i read the first 4 pages. i realize alot of what the WoF'ers say is unscriptural, but is it non-salvic? what i mean is, if a person believe jesus died for them, and died for their sins, and believed he was born of virgin mary, and believed everything of The Creed, (niocene? i can't remember what the name of The Creed is) will it damage their salvation to also believe that we are little god's as well? or to believe if we speak it, itll happen? or to believe that if we don't have healing we don't have enough faith? or to believe that jesus went to hell to take the keys?

i realize this can be damaging speech, and the potential to lead many astray... but if a person truly believes in all the items of The Creed, and adds in a dash of WoF because they don't know better (congregants) are they really that bad off spiritually?

just wondering :)

The issue is that many are salvic.

If you believe you are a little god, then you have elevated yourself to a place that is unbiblical. And while most will not admit it, to admit that you are a little god, stands in pretty stark contrast to a lowly sinner in need of a Savior. Therefore to embrace that you are a little god, would be to get farther and farther away from needing a savior at all, which in turn deals with salvation doesn't it?

And the belief that Christ went to hell (as far as the WOF teaches it) has nothing to do with Christ going to hell to simply get some keys, but rather it falls within the "born again Jesus" teaching. This teaching says that Jesus HAD to go to hell, and God the Father was basically powerless to stop it from Heaven and also that Jesus CEASED to be the Son of God for those 3 days. It teaches that Jesus was tortured and mocked for those days and then after 3 days, He then paid a price and was "born again" out of hell.

This teaching has so many errors I don't know where to begin. For starters, God CANNOT CEASE TO BE GOD. Period. Second, Jesus was SINLESS and therefore had NO NEED to be born again. He BORE our sins, but He wasn't sin. Therefore He had no need to be born again.

The bottom line is that our salvation was bought by our Lord and Savior Jesus by the shedding of His blood ON THE CROSS.

So yes, this issue is also salvic. Because it is through that Blood that we are born again, NOT THROUGH any other means.

So while you may want to dismiss these teachings as some non-essential issue, the bottom line is that they are HERESY. They are WAY OUTSIDE the pale of orthodoxy. And over and over again, they have lead millions of people astray.

Keep in mind the very harsh warnings to the churches "if anyone comes to you and preaches a different Gospel than the one you have recieved, LET THEM BE ETERNALLY CONDEMED".

Sounds pretty serious to me.

You don't think new shoes should take precedents over, say, Haiti, Darfur, unemployment, widows or orphans?

Now, now, Ben. You know green prosperity feathers and portals and angels and gold dust (and shoes!) have priority over all that.

sirwintery -> RE: Word of Faith/Prosperity One Stop Thread (6/18/2010 11:53:04 AM)

I was watching the Patricia King video and then noticed the rotating ads on the side...I went to the one about the new XP studio soon to be built. I read there:

"We are believing to get into the building before the end of the year debt free. We only need another $550,000 to complete this assignment. Your financial gift, large or small, will help us reach this goal."

It's on this page.

That's a large chunk of change to look to rake in on donations. I had been thinking perhaps she didn't belong on the WoF thread as she was more NAR/prophetic movement; then I read this:

"Sow your financial gift today into this project and reap eternal benefits:
$10,000___ $5,000___ $2,500__ $1,000___ $500__ $100__ $50___ $25___ other____"

Hmmm...well, she's only promising "eternal benefits", not a hundredfold dollar return.

What I wonder is--while the current building is torn down and the new building is constructed, where will the XP show be recorded during the interim?

Scroll down the page to read the Finances Already Raised...a lot of donations going PK's way...but the donations of people is not God's endorsement.

gralan -> RE: Word of Faith/Prosperity One Stop Thread (6/19/2010 10:28:45 AM)

Titus has some powerful things to say, among them:
1.10-11 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.

1.13-16 For this reason reprove them (the believers in Crete) severely so that they may be sound in the faith, not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

And for folks caught up with funding these fools and scoundrels:
. 3.14 Our Christian people must learn to do good things always. They should help to supply the things that people really need. Then the Christians will not be lazy and they will not waste their time.

I am convinced that WoF exists with other forms of witchcraft, such as much as the numerology (EDL anyone?) that usually comes along with these bizarre teachings, sort of a Christian version of Kabala. Israel and Judah were destroyed for these kinds of things.

Folks caught up in this need to be warned a first and second time. Then they need to be confronted in love with witnesses and put out of our assemblies if need be. This is not just a naughty thing, this is evil.

There is a whole mindset that rejects rationalism in any fashion, and therefore if it sounds contradictory then it must be a special word because it causes my heart to flutter... its intoxicating poison to say the least.

IMO, of course. Its logically possible I'm way off base, just like its logically possible that we live in a system burped from an eternal essential fabric to form a peculiar spatial anomaly such as our carbon-based life-form universe we call home.

Seriously though, I've come up with a new scale for how deep in the tar pit of WOF these people are. Simply count the time until they mention finances. It's all about Mammon with these people. Oh and the new buzzword is 'debt cancellation'. I guess hucksters have to change with the times.

Had to wait until 1:01 for debt cancellation. At 1:16 it looked like he wiped whatever it was coming out of his mouth.

The grunge version of "Hunh" preaching.

I heard a guy the other day, and I can't remember his name, something like curillo, carillo, something, but he mentioned this. I only listened for less than 2 minutes and he said God wanted everyone to own 7 houses, so they could be financially secure in their old age. I could not believe it.

Well sure, don't you remember the words of Jesus? "In my Father's house there are many rooms; but if you can't wait that long, he'll hook you up with seven houses down here. That's how he rolls."

That would be Morris Cerullo, owner of the world's worst 'comb-over".

He, Steve Munsey, and Mike Murdock usually make the rounds of the various TBN or Daystar "Extort-a-thons".
